STATEMENT OF FAITH

Church Of The Vine is an independent Bible-based Baptist church, that strives to fulfill God's purposes outlined in His word, the Bible. We stand on the following essentials of the Christian Faith regarding:

The True God

We believe in one God, the creator of all things. He is infinitely perfect and externally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory and are one God.

(Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, He is co-equal with the Father. He became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life, offered Himself as the perfect substitutionary sacrifice for our sins by his death on the cross by which He achieved our redemption. He arose bodily, physically and literally, from the grave after three days demonstrating His power over sin and death and thus securing our justification. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, where He is our Advocate, Intercessor and Great High Priest. He will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

(Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; 14:2; 14:10-11; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; I Corinthians 15:3-4; I Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:14-15; I Peter 2:24)

The Holy Spirit

We believe of the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son as God. The Holy Spirit is the person of the triune Godhead who convicts people of sin and makes men aware of their need for Jesus Christ.  He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian should seek to live under His control daily. Additionally, He is the bestower of spiritual gifts upon every member of the body of Christ.

(John 14:16-17; 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12; 3:16I; I Corinthians 3:17; Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:18; Galatians 5:25)

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, both the Old and the New Testament, to be the verbally and plenary is the inspired word of God.  It is God’s infallible, inerrant Word to all men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the final authority and the supreme source of truth for faith and life for all Christians.

(II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; II Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

Man

We believe that man is made in the image and likeness of God. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although God designed man to have fellowship with him, man became alienated from God through Adam’s sin of disobedience. As a result, the human race fell and all human beings inherited a sinful nature and choose to sin against God. Man is completely incapable of regaining a right relationship with God or to remedy his lost condition through his own efforts. (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 8:3-6, Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3; 4:17-19; Colossians 1:21)

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift from God to man by God’s unmerited favor and grace. Salvation is received only by personal faith in Jesus Christ whose precious blood was shed on the cross as payment for our sins. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works but only through God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (John 1:12; 14:6; Romans 5:1; 6:23; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:18-19)

Eternal Security

We believe that because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the believer. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.

(John 10:29; II Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10-14; I Peter 1:3-5)

The Church

We believe that the local Church, which is the body and bride of Christ and His flock, is made up solely of born-again believers. We believe in the autonomy of the local Church, free of any external authority or control. Additionally, we recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as Scriptural ordinances for the Church in this age.

(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47; 20:28-32; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-27; 1 Peter 5:1-4)

Eternity

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind: the believer in Christ into everlasting joy, and the unbeliever into judgement and everlasting punishment.

 (Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26; Revelation 20:5-6, 12-13)

Satan

We believe that Satan is a created being, the author of sin and rebellion and the cause of the fall of man. He is the open and declared enemy of God and man. Because of his rebellion against God, and his leading astray a host of the heavenly realm and mankind, he along with those fallen heavenly beings that rebelled with him, shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.

(Job 1:6-7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:2-11; 25:41; Revelation 20:10)
